How can I set a default application?
This article covers the topic of setting a default application for specific file types.
As an example, you will learn how to set Adobe Acrobat as the default viewer/editor for .pdf files.
Firstly, press the windows key and search the start menu for "Default apps". Click it when you see it in the start menu.
Once the default apps menu is open, you will see that you are able to search either for a file type ( e.g. .pdf ) or for an application ( e.g. Adobe Acrobat ). For this example we will proceed with selecting the default application, but you are welcome to select a file type and then assign a default app if you prefer.
After clicking Adobe Acrobat from the search results, you will see a menu showing all supported filetypes.
Click on .pdf and set it to Adobe Acrobat.
Congratulations. You have now set your first default application.
